A Trip to A World Beyond the World- Spiti
Height- 3800 mt to 4587 mt
18th- 19th May 2018
Location- Manali
I started my journey towards Manali on 18th May 2018 at 11:00pm and reached Manali next day at 5:00 pm...Ahhh such a long journey of 18 hour due to breakdown of bus and traffic. Famished, tired and uncleaned, I freshened up in Sulabh Complex in Manali, knowing that my hostel is on other side of Beas River and that too 2.2 Kms from main square, I decided to have scrupulous food in rain before going to Hostel.
So...Veg soup, Chowmin, a Good tea and Rabri Jalebi in drizzling weather........ That’s all I had...hahaha..Soul filling
Now, Its call for rest and started walking towards my hostel - Hosteller (Near Hotel Trishul) . Glad to meet some Traveller buddies and roomies- a girl from Vietnam (Solo traveler from Vietnam), one from Australia, one from England, one from Delhi and Noida- all with different and interesting traveling stories. We exchanged good stories and time.
20th May 2018
Location- Rohtang Pass, Kunzum Pass, Kaza Spiti
Next day, I started for Kaza with 8 new mates of Ecosphere at 6:40am. It took us 11:00am to reach Gulaba, check point for Rohtang Pass and 1:00PM to reach Rohtang Pass. We drove to Chhatru, and next Batal taking halt at Chacha Chachi ka Dhaba- the famous and lovely couple who stays at Batal at such difficult terrain and weather, 14kms from Chandratal Lake and they saved many people from natural calamilities.
We reached Kunzum Pass at 9 pm night. White snow capped mountains which were glittering under the shine of moon and stars, minus degree temperature can chill the spine but can make anyone smile for pure and mesmerizing beauty of nature, words cant just explain its beauty.
We reached Kunzum Devi ka temple, as per rituals we prayed at Kunzum Devi for safe journey ahead.
Finally we reached at 12 at night, again around 18 hours journey.
We got room at Ecosphere -Taste of Spiti. We had awesome fresh dinner by our chef Nawang Bhaiya- Sandwich of fresh Bread, Tirik and Hot soup. A Scenic, Adventurous Night Journey and Tasty food.

21st May 2018
Location- Kaza, Spiti
We were under acclimatization process, we started our day with refreshing morning and had a great breakfast pancake, seabuckhorn tea which is made of small berry fruits of Spiti, an antioxidant and medifruit for high altitude. This was the day to explore Kaza. I started exploring stream of Spiti River along with my room mate from Mumbai and stayed there for a while and witnessed the sandstorm.
Proceed to it we had taken a ride on Tractor on mountain's way and reached old Kaza to find out Monastery. A Peace.
Then had Mughlai paratha at Traveller’s Shed, one of only 3 places having wifi in whole Kaza region.
Then backed to Sol cafe, I had conversation with local people and got to know amazing facts and stories about the Bodhha religion.
22nd May 2018
Location- Key Monastery and Langza- The fossil village
We started our journey at 10:00am towards the oldest and famous monastery of Kaza, belongs to Gelupa Sector and having more than 100 monks who stays and meditate there.
In the memory of monks who lost their life in Tibbat, on attack by China, a flame is beamed in their memory and fight for "Free Tibbat".

From changing landscape, rocky deserted mountains to muddy mountains, we next moved to Langza. Langza is a place of 15-20 families. All families follow Budhha culture and perfectly happy being in serene and peaceful place. We put off our bags home stay and got to know that our owner went to Kullu for his pregnant wife check up. Shocked to listen since it is 2 days drive from Langza to Kullu and that too via unconstructed road. Their life is difficult but they have no complains.
We started moving to top of hill along with enthusiastic local kids who were eager to talk and fascinated to show us fossils.
Those brother and sis immediately drop their school and picked our hands to lead our path to Budhha Pratima. It was too chilled windy at top of the hill. Budhha pratima was huge and looking at world and like saying “I am looking at you”
Langza- The Budhha Pratima
We went to try out our hands on pot making. Langa is considered to be a blessed land which is best for pot making. We explored Green house of Ecosphere there and Durjoy uncle had helped us in preparation of pot making.
Langza- Pot Making
Langza is a good place of night photography but in moonlight, it was not a good idea. On capturing Star Trails, something attracted my attention which was having big tail which could possibly be a snow leopard.

24th May 2018
Location: Kaza, Demul
Next day we started the journey from Komic to Kaza. It was my birthday.
Spending time in Desor Cafe in Kaza and having delicious Thupka and Pancake, we moved towards Demul by taking lift from a local person from Demul who denied to take any money. On the solace way we met a old lady with her luggage, waiting for vehicle at minus degree temperature, could not imagine since how long she was waiting but once she got into car, she was laughing child like and then slept immediately.. Awestuck to see the simplicity, patience and innocence of them made me to love them more.
At night, we reached Demul for 2 days volunteering program.
